However, IIM Trichy not just focuses on knowledge but also on knowledge delivery and I realised soon that learning through fun was much more effective that textbook learning. The orientation programme was carefully designed to equip us with the way to learn. We had many guest lectures around leadership and also around how we need to focus on wisdom along with knowledge. However, I still recall one classroom experience in one orientation session taken by Professor Suresh Paul around the case discussion pedagogy. The topic to discuss was a case around an individual’s experience on a trek in the ice covered mountains. The way Prof. Paul drove the class was extraordinary in the sense that it added value in all dimensions to all the people present in the class. Where can you find a professor who walks in the class with a thinking hat on his head and then leaves all his students spellbound with his analytical skills! The discussion revolved around the dynamics of the case pedagogy where we got to understand the value of a case discussion. We were divided into groups to analyse the case and then we had a collective discussion around the case details. We also had some good music played in the background at the end which summarised life in a minute. It was not only a tremendously fruitful and learning experience but also one of the funny moments that would stay with me for my life.
The management education that I am getting at IIM Trichy is the best of the best and it grooms me for the bigger challenges that are yet to come. There could have been no better place to start the journey of self-realisation and striving for objectivity than the cultural city of Trichy. The education at IIM Trichy not only gives me knowledge but also the wisdom to use that knowledge. I have been fortunate to be part of the family at Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli and hoping for many such memorable classroom experiences to come!
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
An ABG company that I really want to work for is Idea Cellular. It is India’s largest mobile operator by subscriber base after the recent merger with Vodafone. India is moving in the direction of digital transformation and with the rapid technology penetration and technology access to the different segments of the society, there is a tremendous opportunity in the telecommunications industry to help in the vision of building a digital India. Thus, I would want to leverage my experience
in the digital product business and my experience with analytics to help the organisation in providing value to the Indian consumers.
